Welcome to the dark side……of garlic!
Black garlic is a type of aged garlic that is coloured deep brown. It was first used as a food ingredient in Asian cuisine. It is made by heating whole bulbs of garlic (Allium sativum) over the course of several weeks, a process that results in black cloves.
Plant-Ex have created a black garlic blend that is available as a water-soluble powder. It is made using a blend of black garlic extract powder and carbon black to replicate the darkness.
Black garlic is great to add to anything you’d add garlic too and spread it like butter. The flavour is slightly earthier, providing sweeter notes than garlic.
