The goal of FPS is to research and develop sustainable, natural protective formulations that allow us at Plant-Ex to provide our customers with a higher quality, longer-lasting product for use in food manufacturing. Antioxidants are known to prevent colour degradation in food products, a study was conducted to quantify the extent of protection that some antioxidants can deliver to some of our core food colouring products. We are currently trialling different antioxidants with our products to try and enhance the overall light stability of such products, this will help to produce higher quality products for our customers to utilise in a range of foods and beverages. Another key area in this type of research will be to explore natural ways to prevent microbial growth, a long term issue for the food industry that is traditionally prevented with heat treatments such as UHT which may lead to degradation in food quality.
